Women’s Service League of Hood County meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at De Cordova Country Club, 5301 Country Club Drive from September through May. If you stay for lunch, we usually order off the menu. Exception is our Christmas meeting. Set menu and reservations required.

September 10, 2019 “Membership Welcome Tea” Mary Flores will inform us about the GAP Program that partners area foster teens to mentors from our Women’s Service League who provide guidance and support to the teens. We also provide scholarships for these teens for housing, medical, clothing, food and other needed assistance. Cindy Wise will update us on some of the cases we have helped this summer out of our local Granbury office. Donna Roessler and Sharon Grindstaff will speak about the upcoming Kettle campaign.
October 8, 2019 Cindy Sprague from Solis Mammography will lead a discussion on Breast Cancer. Unfortunately, 1 in 8 women in the United States will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. Remember to do your monthly self breast exams!
November 12, 2019 Jacque Gordon will speak to us about the “Christmas for Children” program in Granbury and how the Women in Service League partners with this wonderful program.
December 10, 2019 Entertainment will be provided by Granbury’s local teenage fiddle player, Ridge Roberts! It is a set menu so reservations are required.
January 14, 2020 Holly Martin, the Associate Executive Director of the Granbury YMCA will join us to discuss Heart Health. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for people of most ethnicities in the United States. Let’s learn how to prevent it!
February 11, 2020 Everyone is welcome to join us for a Membership Tea where we will enjoy refreshments as we talk about our Salvation Army Women’s Service League and answer questions from our membership.
March 10, 2020 “Charities on the Runway” Our annual fundraiser which includes Silent and Live auction items plus a charity style show. We pride ourselves that the only funds we receive are generated by our members, the community, and our fundraising events. It is important to know that money raised stays in Hood County to help those in need.
April 14, 2020 Rachel J. will speak to us about the Ada Carey Family Violence Shelter and how the shelter helped remove her and her children from an abusive situation. The National Domestic Violence Hotline can help victims and survivors of domestic violence. Call 1-800-799-7233 for help.
May 12, 2020 We will have a guest speaker from our Salvation Army Headquarters to preside over our installation of officers for the next board year and present a short program.
